More about the MTK3339 … The MTK3339 is a GPS System on Chip (SoC). This extremely small GPS module offers both high quality and high sensitivity. The module features a built-in patch antenna but you can also add an external 3V active antenna via the u.FL connector, if you wish. The MTK3339 also features built-in data logging for recording track, time and location. It can track up to 22 satellites on 66 channels and has a sensitivity of -165 dBm. Alongside this, the MTK3339 offers low power operation at just 20mA during navigation operations. What else is on-board? In addition to the MTK3339 chipset, there is a 3.3V LDO regulator which enables you to power the module with 3.3-5 Vdc. There is an ENABLE pin to switch the module off using an MCU pin or switch, plus there is the option to add a CR1220 coin cell battery to keep the RTC running. A Red LED is there to blink at 1Hz while searching for satellites, and to blink every 15 seconds when a fix is found, to conserve power. What is GPS?
